We take you to a unique place: in the open countryside, in the middle of an expanse of citrus groves

This is the Norman Abbey of S.S. Pietro e Paolo in Casalvecchio, a Sicilian Ionian municipality about forty kilometers from Messina.
One of the most fascinating features of these churches is the polychromy of the facades and interiors which was obtained with a simple technique consisting of alternating bricks of different colours, usually two. These churches arise in rural, rural and village environments; this, far from constituting a limit from the point of view of their use in tourist terms, instead constitutes an added value because the serenity and peace present in these places prepare the soul for the necessary concentration for prayer, meditation and aesthetic contemplation.
